The 824 Journal Guide to Live Music Venues in Los Angeles and Orange County

Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles and Orange County have more live music rooms than most people will ever get to. This guide puts 158 of them in one place: 114 in Los Angeles County and 44 in Orange County. The smallest room listed holds 89 people. The largest, the Rose Bowl, holds close to 90,000.

Every venue below links to its own profile on The 824 Journal. Each profile covers the address, capacity, indoor or outdoor setup, seating, parking, the venue’s published bag and camera policies with links back to the original pages, food and drink, and links to the official website, event calendar and map.

Venue details were checked against official venue sites, operators, public records and news coverage in September 2026. Only venues with current live music calendars are included. Policies, capacities and bookings change, so check the venue’s own site before you buy tickets or head out.

How to Use This Guide

  • Small venues hold fewer than 1,000 people. Most clubs, bars and listening rooms fall here.
  • Mid-size venues hold 1,000 to 4,999. This covers most historic theaters and concert halls.
  • Large venues hold 5,000 or more: amphitheaters, arenas and stadiums.
  • Capacities are the venue’s published or widely reported figures. Many rooms change layout by show, so the real number for a given night can be lower.
  • To search every profile and filter by county, city, venue type, size and indoor or outdoor setting, use the Venue Guides search page.

Before You Go

  • Bags: Stadiums and arenas usually require clear bags or very small clutches. Clubs often limit bag size and may not have a coat check. Each profile links to the venue’s current policy.
  • Cameras: Many venues allow phones but not professional cameras or detachable lenses without a media credential. Rules are listed on each profile where the venue publishes them.
  • Ages: Many bars and smaller clubs are 21 and over, while theaters and arenas are usually all ages. The age limit is set per show, so check your ticket.
  • Getting there: Parking near the Sunset Strip, Echo Park and downtown clubs is limited. Several venues sit close to Metro rail stations, which are noted on their profiles.

Coming Next

This guide starts with Los Angeles and Orange County. San Diego, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino counties are next, and new profiles will be added here as they are published.
