The Virgil is a cocktail bar and performance room on Santa Monica Boulevard at Virgil Avenue in East Hollywood, on the western edge of Silver Lake. It is family-owned and belongs to the same group of venues as El Cid, Los Globos and Catch One.
The Virgil describes itself as part neighborhood bar and part entertainment space. Bookings include live bands, DJ and dance nights, and comedy, and LA Weekly has named it the city’s best bar for comedy. A free jukebox runs when nothing is on stage.
It opens nightly at 7 p.m. and is 21+ with valid ID. Happy hour runs early on weeknights. The Vermont/Santa Monica Metro station is a few blocks west.
