Accessibility Statement
The 824 Journal wants everyone to be able to read our stories, browse our photography, and join our conversations, including readers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, captions, or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That work includes descriptive alt text for our photographs, visible keyboard focus, readable color contrast, clearly marked links, titled media embeds, pages that can be zoomed and resized, and respect for reduced motion settings on your device.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is part of how we publish, not a one-time project. We review new articles and galleries before they go live and audit the site regularly. Some older photo galleries are still being updated with full image descriptions, and some embedded content from outside services (such as music players and social posts) is controlled by those providers.
Tell us about a barrier
If anything on this site is hard to use or read, please email us at editor@the824journal.press or use the form on our Contact page. Tell us the page address and what happened, and we will work to fix it and get you the content in another format in the meantime. We aim to respond within five business days.
