Venue Profile

Los Angeles, CA · Indoor · Updated September 2026

The Baked Potato is a small jazz club on Cahuenga Boulevard in Studio City, a short walk from the Universal City/Studio City B Line station. Keyboardist Don Randi opened it in 1970, and it is often described as the oldest continuously operating jazz room in Los Angeles.

The club is closely tied to the city’s studio musician community and books jazz fusion, contemporary jazz and funk groups, frequently led by session players. Guitarist Larry Carlton recorded his 1986 live album Last Nite in the room, Los Angeles magazine named it the city’s best jazz club in 2010, and it appears in the 2016 film La La Land.

It opens nightly at 6 p.m. and the kitchen serves until 11:30 p.m. The menu is built around stuffed baked potatoes. The club welcomes all ages.
