Yost Theater
The Yost Theater is a historic theater on Spurgeon Street in downtown Santa Ana. It opened on June 16, 1913, as the Auditorium Theater, was soon renamed Clune’s Santa Ana Theater, and later took the name of owner Ed Yost. Under Luis Olivos and his son Louie Olivos Jr., it became a well-known Mexican cinema house where performers such as Vicente Fernandez and Antonio Aguilar appeared.
The Chase family bought the building from the city in 1986, and it served as a church before a 2007 restoration returned it to use as a live venue. The room holds about 1,000 people and now runs mostly as a nightclub, with DJ nights on a main floor and an upstairs Paradise Room, plus occasional concerts such as Latin and regional Mexican acts.
Age limits vary: club nights are generally 18 and over on Thursdays and 21 and over on Fridays and Saturdays, and valid ID is required. A strictly enforced dress code applies on club nights. Paid parking structures are nearby, and street parking is available after 10 p.m.
