The Continental Room
The Continental Room is a lounge and live music bar on Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Fullerton, across the street from the Fullerton Transportation Center. The building has housed a bar since 1925, when it opened as J.L. Leon’s Billiards, a Prohibition-era pool hall that also served drinks, and a historical marker out front calls it Fullerton’s oldest drinking establishment.
Downtown entrepreneur Sean Francis took over the building around 1999 and, with partner Carlo Terranova, reopened it in 2002 as The Continental Room, a lounge furnished with booths from Little Joe’s, a longtime restaurant in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. Francis has since handed the business to Jerry Najera. The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce marked its 100-year legacy with a ribbon cutting in May 2025.
The city lists live entertainment six days a week, including free jazz between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Fridays, and the room books local rock, soul and cover bands at night. As a bar it is 21 and over, and the Metrolink station makes it an easy stop by train.
