The World Stage
The World Stage is a small performance and education space on Degnan Boulevard in Leimert Park Village. Drummer Billy Higgins co-founded it in 1989 to give younger jazz musicians a place to play, learn and record.
The weekly schedule mixes concerts with teaching. Recent calendars list the Billy Higgins Instrumental Jam Session on Thursdays, featured jazz sets on Fridays, the World Stage Big Band and the Rose Gales Vocal Jam Session on Sundays, and workshops in trap drums, jazz singing and writing. The Leimert Park Jazz Festival also presents a monthly Sunday Jazz series here through 2026.
The room is intimate, and featured sets have recently listed a $20 admission paid in person. The Metro K Line’s Leimert Park station is a short walk away.
