The Soraya (Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts)

Venue Profile

Los Angeles, CA · 1700 capacity · Indoor · Updated September 2026

The Soraya is the performing arts center of California State University, Northridge, on Nordhoff Street in the northern San Fernando Valley. It opened in 2011 as the Valley Performing Arts Center, a $125 million project with a 1,700-seat, three-tier concert hall and a 175-seat black box theater. In 2017 it was renamed after donors Younes and Soraya Nazarian.

Its season is organized into series that include classical music, Jazz at Naz, LA Seen, Hecho en las Americas and dance. Fall 2026 dates include Snarky Puppy, the Colburn Orchestra, and Branford Marsalis with Dianne Reeves. The center also runs the smaller Plaza del Sol Performance Hall elsewhere on campus.

Backpacks are not allowed in the halls, cameras must be checked, and drinks are only permitted inside in the venue’s own tumblers. Parking is in the nearby campus lot for a permit fee, with free parking for subscribers and full-price ticket buyers.
