Natanya Popoola is 23 and lives in North West London. She started classical piano at 4, studied at the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy, and earned an English literature degree at University College London, according to NME and The FADER.
The sound
The FADER describes her early work as alternative R&B and pop with sparse production and soft vocals. Clash says her newer songs are more pop-forward, with touches of mid-2000s R&B. She names Amy Winehouse, Tyler, the Creator, SZA and Aaliyah as influences.
Background
NME put her on its NME 100 for 2025, and reported that SZA shared her song “On Ur Time.” She has supported FLO and Destin Conrad in Europe and shared bills with PinkPantheress and Ravyn Lenae.
The records
Feline’s Return came out June 13, 2025, followed by the Feline’s Return Act II EP on Oct. 10, 2025. In 2026 she released “DON’T ASK!,” co-produced with Oscar Scheller, and “CANDYLAND!” Her newest project is the 12-track mixtape ATTITUDE ERA!, out Sept. 10, 2026, on Human Re Sources.
Why now
This fall is her first headline tour. THE ATTITUDE TOUR runs Oct. 22 to Nov. 16 across Europe, the UK and North America, and its Washington, D.C., date has already sold out. In Los Angeles she is on the Camp Flog Gnaw lineup, Nov. 14 and 15 at the Dodger Stadium grounds (her day has not been announced), and she closes the tour at the El Rey Theatre on Nov. 16. AudioFuzz reports the El Rey show is sold out.
