The Paramount
The Paramount is a restored ballroom at 2708 East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights. It opened as the Paramount Ballroom in April 1949, the venue calls itself the last surviving ballroom in the area, and it holds 400 people.
In its early decades the ballroom hosted Latin dance music, doo-wop and R&B for Black, Latino and Jewish audiences, and in the late 1970s and 1980s it ran as The Vex, a Chicano punk venue. Today it describes itself as part restaurant, part music school and part performance space. Its fall 2026 calendar includes local punk and hardcore bills, the Indie Sleaze Festival on October 17 and a free recurring series called The Mess Around.
A full bar and a chef-driven menu serve show nights. Ages vary by event. Parking is mostly on Cesar Chavez Avenue and nearby streets.
