Rancho Los Cerritos, the historic site at 4600 Virginia Road in Long Beach, has a free Community Ofrenda on view for Día de los Muertos. The altar stands in front of the Visitor Center and honors people connected to the Rancho.
The Rancho lists the ofrenda from October 17 through November 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The listing’s description gives an October 14 start, so check the site before an early visit. Visitors can view the altar and learn about the traditions and symbols of the holiday.
Painting workshop
On Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to noon, Long Beach artist Hely Omar Gonzalez leads Symbols of Remembrance, a painting workshop inspired by the Rancho’s current exhibit and Día de los Muertos imagery.
The workshop is open to all ages, and participants are welcome to add their paintings to the community ofrenda. Tickets are $15, with discounts for Rancho members and volunteers. Tickets are sold through the event page.
