Dyson Airsmooth Is Dyson’s First Dryer Brush, Now in U.S. Stores

The Dyson Airsmooth is the company’s first dedicated dryer brush, and it reached U.S. shelves on September 8 at $249.99.

Dyson announced the tool on September 3. It sits apart from the Airwrap and the Supersonic as a single brush built to dry, smooth and add lift in one pass.

What the Dyson Airsmooth is designed to do

Dyson frames the launch around breakage. In its announcement, the company said traditional hot air brushes can put hair under “unnecessary stress,” pointing to heat, snag-prone bristles and uneven airflow.

Its answer has three parts. The brush measures temperature 100 times per second to keep heat in check. Looped anti-snag bristles are meant to glide through hair instead of catching it. A second set, which Dyson calls PivotFlex bristles, bends up to 90 degrees to help control frizz.

The bristles sit in a teardrop formation. Dyson says the shape keeps tension steady from root to tip.

These are the company’s claims. The Journal has not tested the Dyson Airsmooth.

A conditioning spray from Dyson’s own farms

Dyson also pairs the brush with Dyson Omega, a leave-in conditioning spray made with seven omega-rich oils. One of them is sunflower oil grown on Dyson’s farms in Lincolnshire, England.

That detail is a small window into how far the company has moved from vacuums. Hair care is now a full category for Dyson, with its own formulas and its own retail floor space.

Where to find it

The Dyson Airsmooth sells through Dyson.com and Dyson Demo stores, plus Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Nordstrom, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, Abt and Nebraska Furniture Mart.

Bustle also counted the launch among its editors’ picks of September beauty releases, alongside a new Fenty Beauty foundation. Read our earlier coverage of Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex, and find more launches in Style & Beauty.
