Update, October 7: OC Parks says registration for Boo at the Oaks is full. Only registered guests can attend, and walk-ups will not be admitted.
Santiago Oaks Regional Park in Orange hosts Boo at the Oaks on Saturday, October 17, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The OC Parks event is free, with parking included, but advance registration is required.
On the trails
Guided night hikes head out to look for canyon wildlife. Back near the trailhead, families will find nature stations, crafts and a scavenger hunt with prizes. Hot cocoa, coffee and water will be served.
Organizers suggest arriving before 7:30 p.m. to leave enough time for the activities.
What to know
Costumes are welcome if they are safe for hiking dark dirt trails. Strollers are discouraged and pets are not allowed. Severe weather cancels the event.
The park is at 2145 N. Windes Drive in Orange. Registration closed once the event filled, and questions can go to the park at 714-973-6625.
