What both companies said
Carolyn Bojanowski, executive vice president of merchandising at Sephora, said in the announcement that partnering with “Korea’s #1 beauty & health retailer expands access to an unparalleled K-beauty assortment.”
Do-young Kim, executive vice president of U.S. merchandising at CJ Olive Young, said the partnership “makes the very best of Korean beauty more accessible than ever before.”
Southern California got there first
Olive Young was founded in 1999 and runs more than 1,380 stores in South Korea. Its U.S. story began in Southern California.
The retailer opened its first American store in Pasadena on May 29, 2026, an 8,647-square-foot space with about 400 brands, ABC7 reported. Merchandising team lead Priscilla Kang told the station the company chose the area for its diverse population and trend-forward shoppers. A second U.S. store followed at Westfield Century City.
What comes next
Sephora says the partnership will reach Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand later in 2026, with the Middle East, the U.K. and Australia planned for 2027.
