Everclear open The Lucky 7 Tour in Los Angeles on Thursday, Oct. 22, at The Bellwether in downtown, with American Hi-Fi as special guests. It is the first of 24 fall dates and the only Southern California stop on a run that ends Nov. 22 in Nashville.

Everclear formed in Portland in 1992, but the band’s founder, singer and guitarist, Art Alexakis, was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the Mar Vista Gardens housing project on the city’s west side. The song that broke the band nationally was named for the beach town a few miles up the coast.

Fans Vote on the Setlist

This year the audience helps build the show. Voting is open at everclear.set.fan, and the seven most requested songs in each city get played that night alongside staples like “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine.”

“Our fans have always been a huge part of what we do,” Alexakis said when the tour was announced in May. Giving them a vote on the setlist, he said, “makes this tour feel even more special.”

There is a lot to pick from. The catalog covers 11 studio releases, four of them certified Gold or Platinum, plus 2023’s Live at The Whisky a Go Go, recorded in Los Angeles on the band’s 30th anniversary tour. Sparkle and Fade, the 1995 album that carried “Santa Monica,” got a remastered 30th anniversary deluxe edition in 2025.

Everclear today is Alexakis with guitarist Davey French, bassist Freddy Herrera and drummer Brian Nolan.
