Benefit Cosmetics began in 1976, when twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford opened a shop called The Face Place in San Francisco. The brand is still based in the city, at 595 Market Street, and has been owned by LVMH since 1999.
The products
Benefit’s signature items include Benetint, The POREfessional Face Primer, BADgal BANG! Mascara and Hoola bronzer. LVMH calls Precisely, My Brow Pencil the brand’s No. 1 best seller.
Brows in person
Brows are a big part of the business. Benefit says its products and brow services, including waxing, lamination, tinting and threading, are available at more than 3,200 locations. Its online locator shows nearby brow counters.
What’s on now
For the 2026 holidays, Benefit’s site is featuring its Hotel Beneville Advent Calendar.
Where to find it
Benefit sells at benefitcosmetics.com and at the retail and brow bar locations listed in its store locator. Makeup artists and brow professionals can apply to the Benefit Pro program.
