Aesop was founded in 1987 in Armadale, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, by hair salon owner Dennis Paphitis. L’Oréal bought the brand from Natura &Co for $2.5 billion in a deal completed in August 2023.

The products

Aesop is known for hand care and fragrance. Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm is one of its best-known products, and its eaux de parfum include Tacit, Hwyl and Marrakech Intense.

New in 2026

In September 2026, Aesop introduced its Fragrant Fables Collection. The first scent, Unforeseen Aer, is a fougère in a redesigned amber bottle with a basalt-textured cap. More scents in the collection are due in February 2027.

In Los Angeles

Aesop opened a Beverly Hills store in March 2024 in a building that once housed Hollywood screenwriters, Retail Dive reported. The brand also has stores on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, whose design draws on Eileen Gray’s villa E-1027, and in Silver Lake and Studio City.

Where to find it

Aesop sells at its own stores and aesop.com, and through retailers including Bluemercury, Dermstore and Space NK.
