The Newport Beach Film Festival opened its 27th edition on Wednesday, October 15, 2026, at Regal Edwards Big Newport with a screening of Frampton, the documentary about guitarist Peter Frampton directed by his longtime bandleader Rob Arthur.
Frampton and Arthur walked the opening night red carpet and took part in a Q&A after the screening, according to the festival. Frampton received the festival’s Icon Award during the evening. Dean DeLeo and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots also walked the carpet, along with producer Daniel E. Catullo III and festival co-founders Gregg Schwenk and Todd Quartararo.
About the film
Frampton had its world premiere in the Spotlight+ section of the 2026 Tribeca Festival. The 104-minute film is built as a career retrospective tied to the 50th anniversary of Frampton Comes Alive!, combining archival footage, interviews and performances from Frampton’s most recent tour, which the Tribeca program describes as shaped by a degenerative diagnosis. Daniel E. Catullo produced.
The festival runs through October 22
The 2026 festival continues through Thursday, October 22, with screenings at Big Newport, the Lido Theater and other Orange County venues, plus honors events at Fashion Island and the Balboa Bay Resort. Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, starring Pedro Pascal, closes the festival.
