The Las Vegas Grand Prix has only run three times on the Strip, and each race left something to talk about. With the fourth edition coming Nov. 19 to 21, here is what the first three produced.
2023: Verstappen wins the return
Formula 1’s first race on the Strip started at 10 p.m. local time on Nov. 18, 2023. Max Verstappen won for Red Bull. The fight for the other podium places went to the final lap, when Charles Leclerc passed Sergio Pérez to take second for Ferrari.
2024: Russell wins, Verstappen takes the title
George Russell won the 2024 race for Mercedes, finishing 7.313 seconds ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen finished fifth, which was enough to clinch his fourth straight world championship with races still to go.
2025: A result decided after the flag
Verstappen won again last November, setting a new race lap record of 1:33.365 along the way. The bigger story came after the race. Lando Norris had started from pole and crossed the line second, with McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri fourth. Post-race checks found the skid blocks under both McLarens had worn below the 9-millimeter minimum, and both cars were disqualified.
That promoted Russell to second, Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli to third and Leclerc to fourth.
What changes this year
The 2026 race will be the first in Las Vegas run under Formula 1’s new technical regulations, with lighter cars, movable wings and a near even split between combustion and electric power. We explain those changes in What F1’s 2026 Rules Change for the Las Vegas Strip. The race starts at 8 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 21, and the full weekend schedule is here.
