Gallifrey One, the Doctor Who convention that bills itself as the world’s largest and longest-running annual event of its kind, holds its 37th edition Friday, February 5 through Sunday, February 7, 2027, at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel. It is titled “The Magnificent 37 of Gallifrey One,” and a launch party opens the weekend at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 4.

It is also the next to last one. Organizers have called 2027 their “penultimate convention event,” with the show concluding in 2028. That leaves two chances to go. Here is what the convention has posted as of September 28, 2026.

Venue and getting there

The whole convention happens inside the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel, 5855 W. Century Blvd., just east of LAX. The hotel runs a complimentary shuttle from the airport curbside; its number is 310-641-5700. Room reservations and parking details are on the convention’s hotel and directions pages.

Cosplay and props

  • Costume weapons must be non-working and peace-bonded. Bring them to Con Ops for peace-bonding.
  • Blades stay cased or sheathed. No functioning projectiles (water guns included) and no explosives.
  • No play-acting with props. The policy says so in those words.
  • Daleks and other large mobile props need written permission in advance and stay on the ground level. Smaller props like K-9 are encouraged to keep out of the middle of hallways.
  • Shoes are required, and costumes must be family friendly. Large costumes should move to the side of hallways when it gets busy.

Photos and recording

Video recording and streaming are not allowed in the five main program rooms. General photography is fine with the subject’s consent as long as it does not disrupt anything. Art show photos need permission from the art show coordinator and the artist. If a guest asks you to stop filming, stop right away. Badges must be visible at all times and cannot be shared.

A little history

Gallifrey One started in 1990 and has traditionally been held around Presidents’ Day weekend. The organizers have said the 2028 convention will be the last. For the rest of the 2027 lineup, see our 2027 Southern California convention calendar.
