The California Science Center opens the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center on Friday, November 13, 2026, in Exposition Park in Los Angeles. The 200,000-square-foot addition nearly doubles the museum’s exhibit space.
What’s inside
Space Shuttle Endeavour stands upright in launch position in the Samuel Oschin Shuttle Gallery, stacked with its fuel tank and boosters. The museum describes it as the only place in the world to see a complete, authentic space shuttle system.
Two more galleries open alongside it: the Korean Air Aviation Gallery and the Kent Kresa Space Gallery. Together the three hold 100 artifacts and 100 new hands-on exhibits. Planned features include a gantry-style elevator that rises 140 feet along the shuttle stack, a 115-foot tubular Shuttle Descent Slide and a replica flight deck.
Reservations
General admission is free, including the new center. Entry to the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center requires a timed reservation, which carries a $4 per person service fee when booked in advance online or by phone at (213) 744-2019. Members don’t pay the fee.
The museum expects heavy demand and says walk-up entry may be limited. The Science Center’s other permanent galleries stay free and don’t require a reservation.
