Los Alamitos Race Course will hold its annual Halloween Carnival on Saturday evening, October 24, 2026, in the grandstand area of the Cypress track. The carnival starts at about 6 p.m.

Admission

Admission is $3 for adults. Children 17 and under get in free, and general parking is free. Game tickets are sold at the event starting at 50 cents each, and some games take more than one ticket.

For families

The track lists more than 25 games for kids, plus pony rides, a football toss and a photo booth. Everything is set up in an enclosed area along the grandstand, facing the finish line.

Costume contest

The evening centers on the costume contest, which draws around 350 entrants each year, according to the track. Prizes are awarded in seven age groups: 2 and under, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8, 9 to 11, 12 to 15, and 16 and up.

In each group, first place wins $200, second place $125 and third place $100. The seven first-place winners then compete for a $500 grand prize. Every contestant gets a free bag of popcorn.

Live Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing runs the same night. Proceeds from the carnival benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Anaheim-Cypress. For details, call the track at 714-820-2800.
