Pumpkin Palooza is back at Discovery Cube Orange County on weekends this fall. The event runs October 3 and 4, 10 and 11, 17 and 18, 24 and 25, and October 31 through November 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The science center at 2500 N. Main St. in Santa Ana builds the event around pumpkins and a bit of Halloween. The schedule includes costume dance parties at 11 a.m., noon, 2, 3 and 4 p.m., trick-or-treat stations around the grounds, and a pumpkin maze that doubles as a lesson in composting.
Hands-on “Pumpkinology” activities cover the science side. Pumpkin catapults, bumper cars, tractor rides and midway games round out the day.
Sensory-friendly morning
Discovery Cube has set aside a sensory-friendly session on Sunday, October 18, starting at 9:50 a.m., for kids who do better with less noise and smaller crowds.
Tickets and parking
Pumpkin Palooza is ticketed through Discovery Cube’s website, and children under 3 get in free. Parking is $10 in two first-come lots, and the Cube suggests arriving about an hour early on busy weekends.
