SOFIA ISELLA is 21, based in Los Angeles, and independent. Under the Radar reported that her third independent EP arrived this spring, and she has built her career without a label: support slots for Glass Animals and Taylor Swift, more than 150 million streams, and in April 2026, arena dates opening for Florence + The Machine, including Madison Square Garden on April 21 and Barclays Center on April 24.
The sound
Clash calls it stark, gothic-leaning alt-pop. Under the Radar describes industrial-leaning alternative rock with off-kilter pop structures, and notes her songs deal with the normalization of violence and the contradictions of modern womanhood. She directed the video for “The Chicken is Naked and Afraid” herself.
The records
Her 2024 EP, I Can Be Your Mother, was the breakthrough, and Pigeons & Planes reported that “Hot Gum” passed 16 million streams. Her newest release is the EP Something is a shell ., out April 17, 2026, which includes “Numbers,” “Out in the Garden” and “Above The Neck.” She has not released a debut album.
Why now
After the Florence dates she headlined a UK and European tour, May 5 to June 4, ending at London’s Roundhouse, which Kerrang! called her biggest headline show to date. Summer festivals included Fuji Rock, Hinterland and Osheaga, and she is booked for Corona Capital in Mexico City on Nov. 20. She has no Southern California dates announced yet.
